Step’s learning experience moved from an app-store application to a dedicated PWA, connecting sign-in, lessons, practice and progress in a focused student interface.
Keep the learning journey together
Step’s website serves prospective students. Its learners need something different: a focused entry point for their lessons, practice and progress. The application work created that separate experience within the wider school transformation.
The project owner confirmed the migration from the app-store learning application to a progressive web app, alongside the website, brand and CRM work.
What changed
Citable delivered the application migration, a dedicated welcome and sign-in journey, and interfaces for guided learning and progress. Students reach the application on its own subdomain instead of navigating through the public marketing website.
The public entry page offers a direct route to sign-in. Its web-app manifest declares a standalone display, a dedicated application start route and installation icons. This is the configured foundation for an app-like web experience.
The outcome: one place to return to learning
The school now has a recognisable student application alongside its public website. Each surface has a clear job: explore the school on the website; enter the learning environment through the app.
This is a product-delivery story. We have not replaced that outcome with a public-search score that would say little about private student workflows.
What we verified on 6 September 2026
- The public welcome and sign-in routes responded successfully over HTTPS.
- The manifest specifies
standalonedisplay and/app?source=pwaas the start URL. - A service-worker registration was observed for the application’s origin.
- Robots directives distinguish the public entry routes from application, API and authentication paths.
- The checker returned a partial assessment with 69% weighted coverage and no publishable score.
The search database returned no rows for the application subdomain. That does not establish zero visits or zero use. The public welcome page also exposed no JSON-LD in this inspection.
The boundary of this story
The owner-confirmed delivery includes lessons, practice and progress interfaces. Private student records were not accessed. Offline operation, installation on every device, learning gains and retention were not tested in this public review.
